ESG is a corporate strategy to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations (UN).
2030 Sustainable Development Agenda
Providing a shared action plan for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
In 2015, 193 countries adopted 17 Global Goals, with 169 targets and 248 indicators, to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.
This blueprint provides a coherent, holistic, and integrated framework to address the world’s most pressing global sustainability challenges, including protecting the environment, tackling climate change, ending poverty and hunger, reducing inequalities, improving access to healthcare and education, and building strong institutions and partnerships.
It calls for collective action by governments, businesses, and civil society worldwide to address urgent global sustainability issues.
What is ESG?
ESG focuses on three key areas.
ESG-JTM
ESG stands for Environmental (E), Social (S), and Governance (G), and is a framework used to assess the impact of an organization’s operations on the environment, society, and governance.
Environmental: Management leads and guides the organization, engaging all levels within the organization to regulate, assess, and govern operational resources (training and administration), operational management, and to control the environmental impact resulting from its operations.
Â
Social: Refers to human rights and equality, including the relationship between the institution and the public, as well as policies and actions that impact individuals, target groups, and the community.
Â
Governance: Refers to decision-making processes, the implementation of decisions and planning, and the management of organizational operations and administration to ensure that environmental protection and social impact factors are properly regulated and controlled.
